Today we are a country filled with hatred for our fellow citizens. Not because they are from a different race, gender, or even because their skin is a different color or they have chosen a different lifestyle. We hate them because of their political affiliation. Just look at what the American News Media, the Democratic Party and the blogs are putting up about Sarah Palin whom they don't even know. Check out what our own Congress did while we are in the midst of an energy crisis .... they went on vacation so they wouldn't have to vote on an issue before the election! Listen to the hatred being spewed by those in our own Congress which has in turn spawned a hatred among our own people for those on the other side of the political spectrum. Listen to your own words and see if you aren't being drawn into the GOTCHA POLITICS of today. It is no longer about what is good for the country or even about making sure our representatives are representing us as a people to the best of their ability. Virtually every vote in Congress is along party lines which means that the Democrats only vote favorably for Democratic sponsored bills and Republicans only vote favorably for Republican sponsored bills. The only people that can stop this is you and me for we are the ones that can vote these folks out of office and vote new Citizen Statesmen into office. It should be painfully obvious to all of us by now that the people in office now are woefully corrupted by their own hate and no longer have the best interest of the country at heart. Now it is Party First and Country only when it is election time.
At least John McCain and Sarah Palin have stumbled on the problem and have done a reasonable job of outlining what needs to be done to fix it. However, by themselves they will not be able to do much more than stave off disaster. We as a people also need to send a message to those in Washington that unless the hate stops they will no longer be in power to spread that hate and subvert the great country that is the United States of America. But before we can do that we will have to address our own personal hatred of the opposition and begin to look at the proposals and see them for what they are. If a proposal is good it will be able to stand on it's own merits. If it calls for massive government expansion then we MUST require the proponents of this measure to explain how they intend to pay for it without giving us a trip through Fantasyland.
Remember that when a politician says that he is going to only tax the rich then you can expect the cost of the stuff you need to survive will go up. After all isn't the company you work for part of the rich and don't the products they sell generate your salary? If their taxes go up then what happens to the price of the products we buy everyday? Companies will always pass the higher taxes they receive on to the consumer ... that's you and me.
